National Gallery of Art, East Building, Washington, DC. Designed by IM Pei in the "modern style" and one of my favorite buildings in the city. It opened in 1978.                                                                             Photo: Anne Newman.

Anne Newman is a retired neuropsychologist. She has written three essays inspired by her grandparents' 1937 Bauhaus-style apartment building in Brno, Czech Republic. The first, "Gifts from Rosa," was translated into Czech and published in 2022 by the Museum of Vysočina Jihlava in Třešť. The second, "The House on Křenová Street," also translated into Czech, will be published in January 2025 in Forum Brunense, the annual magazine of the Brno City Museum (Muzeum města Brna). The third, "My Search for Otto Eisler," describes her grandparents' association with a remarkable architect and his family. Anne lives in Maryland with her husband Don and their dog Nellie.
